Housekeeper is jailed in Altadena woman’s death
The unidentified suspect is arrested after her employer’s bloodied body is found after a fire in her house.
Authorities arrested a housekeeper today on suspicion of murder in the death of her 90-year-old employer whose body was found in a pool of blood Thursday after a fire broke out in her Altadena home.
Evelyn Oletha Mosley was pronounced dead at her home in the 3200 block of Lincoln Avenue that morning after she was discovered by Los Angeles County firefighters, said Lt. Larry Dietz of the county coroner’s office.
The fire was reported about 10 a.m. and extinguished in 12 minutes. Afterward, firefighters discovered the body on the kitchen floor, authorities said.
No cause of death has been determined yet, Dietz said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the housekeeper, who they described as a part-time employee. Deputies arrested the woman about 1 a.m. today, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore, said.
Detectives made the arrest after finding what they believed to be signs of a struggle at the home, Whitmore said.
