Checking out San Diego Zoo's newest baby panda
Xiao Liwu, a 5 1/2-month-old male panda, gets weekly checkups at the San Diego Zoo. Xiao Liwu was born at the zoo and has been on display for a limited number of hours since last week.

This image provided by the San Diego Zoo shows Xiao Liwu receiving his first veterinary exam on Aug. 23, 2012, in San Diego. The exam determined that the cub was healthy and thriving at 1.5 pounds, but its sex could not be determined at the time. Xiao Liwu is the sixth giant panda born at the San Diego Zoo, the most born at a breeding facility outside of China.
