Are Los Angeles and San Francisco going in the right direction with green building ordinances?

1. big problem has LA it is the car.....the mayor and the gouvernor should encourage the population to take transport public (for instance tax deduction?)

2. If the LA City Council would take away the spray paint cans from the gang bangers, this would be a big step in making LA green.

3. If LA wants to be truly "green" or rather sustainable, stop pumping the water out of every creek in Northern CA, Colorado, Utah, Nevada....and live with the environment that "came with the place!"

4. Actually, L.A. is going BROWN, not green. Look around you when you're stopped in traffic on any freeway. No doubt about it, we're going BROWN. Soon the drug cartels will be having gunfights between themselves, like they just did in Tijuana. Wait a minute...this already IS Tijuana! I'm outta here!Which way to Minnesota? I'll have to learn to speak Minnesotan and unlearn all of my Tijuanaisms, but it will be worth it.

5. The only plan that the mayor has is to make as many of his friends rich with city contracts as possible. The mayor of Los Angeles is a crook. He is not a very bright man and he is a drug addict. The sad thing is that he is in charge of our city. .He will do nothing positive for our city. The mayor will grow the city as fast as possible and all it will do for the citizens is destroy our southern California lifestyle and replace it with a culture we have yet to see The saddest thing is that the mayor will lesson our lifestyle in Los Angeles in order to improve the lives of those coming from Mexico.

6. "Renewable Energy and What it Means for America" is subtitle of l997 'Charging Ahead" by John J. Berger, Macrae-Henry Holt, NY about solar, wind & & geothermal energy production. The Department of Energy must be staffed by people who stop favoring producers of nuclear, oil & coal energy. We must have generous subsidies to install renewable energy systems. Government should be the early market --installing systems on public buildings. The author recommends guidance from the American Solar Energy Society, the Union of Concerned Scientists & The Natural Resources Defense Council--(ready to be Googled.)

7. It all starts at home. If every home and every individual would do their part, what a wonderful world it would be. But people spend so much time pointing fingers, digging up old candidates and blaming others,it's really pathetic. Separate your trash, don't buy bottled water, turn off the lights when you aren't in the room. urn off the water while you're brushing your teeth, don't throw trash out the car window, clean up after your dog, don't turn on the AC when you can open a window...the list goes on and on. But it is amazing how many people are just too lazy. STOP POINTING FINGERS AND DO SOMETHING!

8. Are you kidding me? L.A. as "Green." That city is a urban sprawl nightmare. How is this green? A few hotels and low income housing that's energy efficient is minute compared to the amount of damage your city alone does to the environment. Want to do your part in "greening america?" Take birth control. Over population is the issue.

9. To all the global warming proponets, as we "go green" and lose out economically to the likes of China and India who will never acknowledge the Kyoto treaty, the push on economically as we lag behind. WE are already on a downward spiral with high unemployment, just think what "going green" will do to our economy! Besides not all scientist come to agreement on global warming.

10. The Mayor can help L.A. win the whatever contest for BRAGGING rights by getting rid of his YUKON ! AND TAKING THE BUS AS HE PROMISED.
