Five are killed in weekend violence

Five weekend homicides were reported Sunday in the region, including four suspected gang killings.

The victims of suspected gang violence:

Derek Chambers, 21, fatally shot near Figueroa and 108th streets about 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses saw suspected gang members fleeing in a dark sedan shortly afterward, police said.

An unidentified 17-year-old boy who died after being shot in the 2100 block of East Banyan Avenue in Anaheim about 10:50 p.m. Saturday.

The youth was arguing with two men when one shot him in the chest, then fled, authorities said. Anaheim police said the shooting was gang-related.

Thomas Grimes, 27, was fatally stabbed in the 700 block of South Carondelet Street early Sunday. Six to 10 suspected Latino gang members attacked Grimes before fleeing, police said.

Rosalio De La Rosa, 22, died after arguing with a man near Parthenia Street and Woodley Avenue in North Hills about 1 p.m. Sunday.

De La Rosa claimed to be a gang member, then pointed a gun at the man, who allegedly used his own weapon to shoot De La Rosa and a companion.

The suspected gunman, Anthony De La Cruz, and the companion, who is in stable condition, were arrested, Los Angeles police said.

Robert Howard Carrion, 19, was pronounced dead early Sunday after being found late Saturday in Riverside’s Nichols Park with a gunshot wound to the torso.
