A surprise maneuver? Seriously? This was no surprise at all. There's something called Twitter and Ustreamthat revealed where the Police whereabouts at almost all times. There was no need for a surprise because the occupiers went peacefully. It is a peaceful movement. LAPD did handle the raid much better than Oakland and NYC granted, but certainly no surprise.

The Empire Struck Back.
Maybe these OLA people can get a plan together for when the weather warms up.
Maybe not.

Sure are a lot of pats on the back here for "tactics" used against people who were not fighting back. Kinda like a bunch of football players high fiving each other for all those amazing tackles they landed on a classroom full of students sitting at their desks. That said, I'll at least give the LAPD that they showed a lot of restraint compared to how they've historically handled similar situations. But that is faint praise. Handling non-violent demonstrators with a modicum of civility should be the norm, not remarkable.
