  • Brian, you mean that house you moved into long after the planes have been flying over it? Typical of crybabies to want everything else changed to suit their whiney little self centered desires.

  • There is no law restricting aircraft to 500'. The law states that aircraft maintain 1,000' over municipalities and maintain 500' from vessels or persons. Barring this, aircraft are allowed to fly as low as safety permits.

  • I Most importantly we should remember freedom of expression is a mainstay in this country - so don't knock it. You millionaire folks should buy properties in the wilderness where only you and nature can argue.

  • Aerial advertising is totally annoying. I moved into a home far enough from two major highways. 6 months later my home was right under some company's flight plan. For an hour every morning and again in the evening I listened to a continuous putt-putt-putt-putt as they flew at 500 feet in circles above my home. Part of the beach? Who knows, maybe next week someone is going to be blocking my driveway with one of those mobile ad trucks.

  • OK then. Just what do we expect or want from a beach anyway? Quiet? Solitude? Beauty? A place to think, de-stress or commune with nature? Or novelty, diversion, excitement? Are there any boundaries then, for advertising or other visual disturbances? Would you mind, then, if planes buzz by once every ten seconds, or raised their engine noise levels until they were really annoying. And would we mind if they move so slowly that the air would seem to be permanently filled with banners, fumes and noise? Would they have then reached your tipping point?

  • AS A FORMER RESIDENT OF THE AREA, I THINK THAT THE PLANES ARE PART OF THE FABRIC OF THE PLACE. A LITTLE B IT OF NOSTALGIA IF YOU PLEASE. JUST LET THEM BE.

  • These banner-towers have been flying over South Bay beaches since I can remember. I moved to Manhattan Beach from Marina del Rey when I was two. I turned 40 this year. What I don't get is why people expect cities to change when they move in. Sheesh, people. Take a look around before you buy!

  • People should be free to annoy the hell out of other people. Damn the beachgoers and people who live there. Liquor industry profits, and the pharmaceutical companies who make the sunscreen are far more important. Their executives deserve the mega-millions they get. And these endless, annoying ads being rammed down people's throats at part of what gets them their mega-millions. Let the insensitive volleyballers drive the families from the beaches, skateboarders get those damn old people and toddlers off the sidewalks. Give schoolkids guns. Let California be free to self-destruct. NOT!

  • I grew up in Manhattan Beach and have lived by the beach there for 20 of the last 35 years of my life. The planes have always been there and are actually part of the charm of the place. Their hours of operation are restricted, and there are many more sources of noise that just those. I am personally concerned about the overcrowding and increased traffic in the area, and the use of the public beaches for restricted access events.

  • Go ahead, California, outlaw everything. The free states are laughing at you.
