About 52% of Californians voted yes on Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that alters the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriages. Use the Times interactive maps below to see how voters divided along geographic and demographic lines, as well as to compare the vote on Prop. 8 to other measures, including a nearly identical ban that passed by 61% in March 2000.

@lordkid7777  This is not a religious issue, as you may or may or may not be aware we have division of church and state in this country so f**k you and your god.  K thanks.

GOD said; To be HOLY, for He is HOLY. He also said not to fornicate, and to be the husband of one wife. And that a man and woman shall be joined together, and leave there father and mother and become one flesh. Do any of this shows that GOD advocated for gay rights? Do the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah illustrate that GOD approve of gay rights, no it do not, so why should we?

I do not wish to feel GOD wrath and anger, because of someone else disgusting, self centered and wicked sin. Stop being a homosexual, plain and simple. If you don't stop, hell will be youir eternal home, and GOD could and probably will curse your family for the next three to four generations, or longer. This is known as a generational curse, because of continuing sin and a sinful lifestyle.

This issue has no business in the courts or in politics. It's a religious issue. I am a liberal Christian. It's none of my business what kind of sex anyone practices as long as it doesn't involve legal prohibitions. It doesn't matter what words a minister says over a same sex couple or what legal rights related to marriage civil law gives them, in the eyes of God, they are not married.

I have gay couple friends. None I know want to be tied together legally. Those who do represent a very small percentage of the population. What they are really after is acceptance of their life style.
