Bill Would Force UC Pay Discussions Into Open

California Assembly Speaker Pro Tem Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) has introduced a bill to require University of California regents to discuss salaries for UC’s top executives in open session. The board now discusses such decisions in closed session but votes on them in public.
The proposal, submitted Friday, follows audits showing that UC officials have often violated or skirted policies to provide extra pay or perks to senior executives. The university recently adopted reforms.
