Condit must pay paper’s costs in defamation suit
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A Phoenix judge ruled Wednesday that former California congressman Gary Condit must pay an Arizona newspaper’s legal fees for defense against his defamation lawsuit.
The judge awarded the Sonoran News $42,680 in attorney fees and costs.
At issue was a sentence in a story that said Condit lied to investigators about his relationship with Washington intern Chandra Levy, who disappeared and was later found dead.
