Defense Department identification of U.S. military personnel who died in Afghanistan or at a U.S. military hospital of their injuries:

Daniel B. Bartle, 27, of Ferndale, Wash.; captain, Marine Corps. Bartle was among six Marines killed Thursday when their CH-53D helicopter crashed in an apparent accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Jon-Luke Bateman, 22, of Tulsa, Okla.; corporal, Marine Corps. Bateman was one of two Marines killed Jan. 15 while supporting combat operations in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Keith D. Benson, 27, of Brockton, Mass.; specialist, Army. Benson died of undisclosed injuries Wednesday while serving in southeast Afghanistan’s Paktika province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Kenneth E. Cochran, 20, of Pahrump, Nev.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Cochran was one of two Marines killed Jan. 15 while supporting combat operations in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa, Japan.

Joseph D. Logan, 22, of Willis, Texas; corporal, Marine Corps. Logan was among six Marines killed Thursday when their CH-53D helicopter crashed in an apparent accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Phillip D. McGeath, 25, Glendale, Ariz.; corporal, Marine Corps. McGeath was killed in combat Wednesday in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Nathan R. McHone, 29, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; captain, Marine Corps. McHone was among six Marines killed Thursday when their CH-53D helicopter crashed in an apparent accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Kevin J. Reinhard, 25, of Colonia, N.J.; corporal, Marine Corps. Reinhard was among six Marines killed Thursday when their CH-53D helicopter crashed in an apparent accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Travis W. Riddick, 40, of Centerville, Iowa; master sergeant, Marine Corps. Riddick was among six Marines killed Thursday when their CH-53D helicopter crashed in an apparent accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Jesse W. Stites, 23, of North Beach, Md.; corporal, Marine Corps. Stites was among six Marines killed Thursday when their CH-53D helicopter crashed in an apparent accident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Benjamin B. Wise, 34, of Little Rock, Ark.; sergeant first class, Army. Wise died Jan. 15 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered Jan. 9 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in northern Afghanistan’s Balkh province, which borders Uzbekistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
