Photos: WWII airman buried at Riverside National Cemetery

In October 1943, Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Claude A. Ray of Coffeyville, Kan., and 10 other airmen were declared missing in action after their B-24 Liberator aircraft disappeared while flying over Papua New Guinea during World War II. In 2003, a Defense Department team received information on a crash site from a citizen on the island. On Wednesday -- 67 years to the day after he disappeared -- Ray was finally laid to rest. Ray, who was 24 when he went missing, was buried at Riverside National Cemetery, where his casket was carried by a California Army National Guard color guard.
