Three girls found unconscious in Chatsworth; suspect arrested
Los Angeles police detectives have arrested a suspect after three girls were found unconscious Thursday morning in a Chatsworth park. One was partly clothed and may have been sexually assaulted.
Officers could revive none of the victims at the scene, leading them to suspect that the girls had been drugged. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.
“It appears these young ladies were under the influence of something or other,” said Officer Sara Fadan.
KCBS Channel 2 reported that police found backpacks, candy and drink containers at the scene in Mason Park, but it’s not known whether drugs or alcohol caused the girls to lose consciousness.
“There was a bag of candy found,” Capt. Steven Ruiz told Channel 2. “It’s unknown at this time whether or not it was laced. There’s also several empty bottles of different types of soda containers … so we don’t know what involvement that may have at this point so we’re still actively investigating it.”
Some youths playing basketball at the park said they saw one boy carry a girl into the men’s restroom, KABC Channel 7 reported.
Bystanders called police around 10:40 a.m.
Police are seeking additional suspects. Both victims and the alleged suspects are believed to be minors.
