Weigh in: Out There | Los Feliz
If you left a note in the chess table, what would it say?

1. Yes, it is possible to both love and hate L.A. I spent 15 years living there, loving and hating it every day.

2. I miss the US and most of all Glendale where I lived for 20 years. I shall visit this cafe next time I visit

3. It just takes too much energy to maintain/nurture/support friendship. And you wind up with what? More entropy. This is probably the stupidest thought I ever had and/or shared. I'm embarrassed.

4. Great story....thanks. Even a greater idea someone had to start these notes. Life is short...

5. I am always bewildered at the fact that so many people love to hate the City of Angels. Neighborhoods like Los Feliz are a prime example of what is great about Los Angeles. Wherever I may end up in life, Los Angeles will always be where I want to be. If you want it: a certain lifestyle, an article of clothing, unique food, etc., L.A. has it. Los Angeles has something for everyone. That is what is great about L.A.

7. First I'd like to tell Scott Gold great job! Second, gracias to Brian for sending me the article. Then, on that piece of paper I'd write: There is a time and place and reason for all things unplanned. Thank you, BTF for devouring mine. Although I'm SF bound, I will come back and visit.

8. Los Angeles is a beautiful place if one can stop for a moment and look -- and people really should stop. Born and raised in L.A. but never worked in Downtown until recently. In a tower that allows us to see the mountains covered with snow on one side and the ocean from the other it reminds me of days of skiing and then later driving to the beach for a bike ride. I love this city more than ever. Yes, Los Feliz is quaint but there are many other interesting neighborhoods in Los Angeles...you just have to get out of your car and take a walk.

9. Tabitha, I love the City of Angels and I wanted to come home, too. And I did. Finally! I don't know where you are but I hope you find your way back here one of these days. I lived in three other states after leaving L.A., but I just didn't feel right in any of them. I always thought about coming home...and now I'm here. I love hearing stories like the one about the chess table; somehow, there's something very SoCal about it. And I love the Los Feliz area! There's just something about it...

10. I live only a few blocks away from Alcove in Los Feliz for the past 11 years. I can't imagine moving away from this delightful little community. Yes, gentrification is on going but it still retains a village feel. Hopefully Los Feliz will never turn into another Santa Monica....
