Most state parks in burn areas reopen

California State Parks announced that it will start taking reservations for campsites in most parks in the burn areas of Southern California. But Palomar Mountain State Park, San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park and Mt. San Jacinto State Park remain closed.

The agency has begun taking reservations for all parks today for the Memorial Day weekend. As a result of the recent fires in L.A., Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Orange counties, 1,400 reservations at 11 state parks were canceled, according to a Wednesday release.

Palomar and San Pasqual, both in San Diego County, suffered extensive fire damage, the state agency reports. Mt. San Jacinto will be closed as long as drought conditions persist, the statement said.

San Mateo Campground at San Onofre State Beach

South Carlsbad State Beach

Crystal Cove State Park's primitive campsites

Doheny State Beach

San Clemente State Beach

Lake Perris State Recreation Area

Chino Hills State Park

Wildwood Canyon
