A man who was shot in the face and back after an argument in Westlake on Sunday managed to drive himself to the hospital, authorities said.

The man, who was not identified, was in the 400 block of South Occidental Boulevard about 4:30 a.m. when he got into an argument over money with someone, said Los Angeles Police Officer Bruce Borihanh.

Police said the man was shot in the back and face.

“He must have a really high pain threshold,” said Lt. Darryl Ito of the LAPD’s Rampart Station. “Both rounds were still in his body.” One of the bullets had punctured a lung, Ito said.

Still, the man drove to the hospital, parked his car in an appropriate space about a block away and walked in for care. Ito said the man was in stable condition.
