Robbins grew up scooping cones in his family's ice cream store for customers who always seemed to be having a good time -- he recalled that he often "finished a day's work happy." What's your favorite ice cream memory?

1.
ahhh...i will forever love baskin-robbins now!
2. I was just reading about Baskin Robbins Ice cream as I was eating some Rocky Road from there. I always have to sneak the ice cream because it's my wife's favorite too. My wife and I grew up in Glendale and were able to go to some of the original places to eat including Baskin Robbins in Glendale. I was in Sydney, Australia last November and was so happy to have seen a Baskin Robbins so far away. Iam glad to have been part of the leagacy....Thanks for the memories!
3. I remember going out on a date at the Baskin Robbins in Gardena on Redondo Beach & Normandie back in 1980something. I had on a cute white dress, when I sat down to eat the ice cream, i spilled it all over the front of the dress. Luckily it was not a dark color flavor. Blessings to the Robbins family in their time of grief. He will never be forgotten. I used to buy cut gallons of Pistachio Almond when I got depressed, trying to eat myself happy. Thanks Mr. Robbins.
4. The BR on Vedugo Rd., just South of Glendale College always hired the cutest girls when I was in Highschool. I had a huge crush on one of them (Hi Roxanne, if you read this!) and spent way too much time "deciding" just so I could be near her. My condolences to the family and to the extended BR family. He will be missed.
5. Re # 6--Mr Slobonski--actually, Irvine was in very bad health UNTIL he changed his diet and went pretty much all the way vegan. Then his blood pressure & cholesterol & weight went down, and he lengthened his life by reducing his disease risk thru a better diet & lifestyle. He & John also became close again in recent years. I'm glad he had a good long life to enjoy his family. Peace to his soul. Sympathies to his family.
6. My last name is Baskin, but sadly, no relation to Baskin Robbins, as far as we koow. I've spent my life, however, answering the question about any relation or often saying, "My last name is Baskin...like the ice cream." So neat to see some of the history on these two men and so sad that they are now both gone. I have great memories of going to see a movie with my parents or friends and then heading over to Baskin Robbins for a cone afterwards. I LOVE LOVE LOVED the clown cones they used to do - the frosting was the best! Wow! I haven't thought about those in years....
7. I'm a single scoop kinda gal, cones at first and later just in a cup. Maybe that's why I never got fat on it, nobody says ya have to pig out on it. About 3 blocks to the BR across from the high school. Gold Medal Ribbon still my favorite, glad it's endured.
8. A perfect example of the American Dream come true!
9. It was a real treat to get a double-scoop with my grandfather, as long as my mom didn't know about it. It was a race to not let it drip down the cone. My kids now get to enjoy ice cream with their grandparents. I love Baskin-Robbins.
10. I met Mr. Robbin and he was kind of strange, you know, always talking about how much ice cream was good for you, and it was very healthy, I thought this guy is really wacked, I mean, ice cream is not healthy at all, it's fattening and not good for your teeth or you skin, I had so many pimples and gained like 30 pounds in fat. Thanks Baskin Robbins!
