Metrolink to Add Four Runs to Inland-O.C. Route
Metrolink will expand train service between Riverside and Orange counties, adding four runs to the popular commuter route Jan. 3, officials announced Wednesday.
The new trains will run between downtown Riverside and Oceanside in San Diego County. Stops include West Corona, Anaheim Canyon, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin and Irvine.

Metrolink ridership -- An article in Thursday’s California section said ridership on Metrolink’s line connecting the Inland Empire and Orange County was 4,200 trips a month. It should have said 4,200 trips a day.
The line is popular with Riverside County residents who work in Orange County.
Ridership has increased 16% in the last year, to 4,200 trips a month.
The additional trains will offer riders more flexibility and perhaps entice more people to use Metrolink, officials said.
“Some people resist taking the train because they feel bound by a schedule,” Frank West, a Metrolink board member and Moreno Valley councilman, said in a news release. But now, “they have a schedule that responds to their needs.”
Two trains will be added for weekday trips from downtown Riverside to Oceanside, departing at 11:50 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. The two new northbound trains will depart Oceanside at 7:30 a.m. and 10:35 a.m.
