Law enforcement authorities plan to meet today to decide what charges to bring against a Mission Viejo teacher who was arrested Thanksgiving Day, accused of having “substantial sexual relations” with one of her students.

Alyssa Anne Johnson, 31, who has taught at Trabuco Hills High School for about four years, was taken into custody at her Tustin home and was booked at Central Women’s Jail in Santa Ana on a charge of oral copulation with a minor, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino said. She made bail later that evening.

Sheriff’s investigators and deputy district attorneys are set to meet to discuss the case, Amormino said.

Johnson, an English teacher, is suspected of first engaging in sexual acts with the boy during the summer, while she was teaching summer classes, Amormino said. The student is “older than 14 and younger than 18” and has known Johnson for a few years.

School officials recently alerted the department to the situation, Amormino said.

Trabuco Hills Principal Dan Sullivan declined to comment. Johnson has been placed on administrative leave.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 628-7170.
