Candidate Romney
Mitt Romney works on a speech to the Republican National Hispanic Assembly prayer breakfast in Washington, D.C. Religion is a recurring issue for both major parties this election season, but the spotlight appears brightest on Romney, who is seeking to become the nation's first Mormon president. However, he is not the first member of his faith to run for the White House. Among previous Mormon candidates: Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), former Rep. Morris Udall (D-Ariz.) and Romney's father, former Michigan Gov. George W. Romney.
