Spilt Milk: Who's Giving

California special interest groups this year gave more than $32 million to independent campaign committees that are not subject to contribution limits. The independent campaigns helped a couple of candidates for statewide office and five others running for legislative seats. The bulk of the money, $14.7 million, was used to help Treasurer Phil Angelides' run for governor in the primary and general elections.
