HARVEY—As the investigation continues into the shooting death of Donald Bates who was shot and killed on January 29th, 2010 on Eastmere in Harvey, our Homicide investigators have identified several individuals they believe were involved Donald Bates' death.
The scope of this investigation broadened after detectives learned a female acquaintance of Bates, identified as Rhonda Skinner, B/F, 39, of 917 Beechgrove Blvd. #J in Westwego was in contact with the victim just prior to his death. Skinner was located in a motel on the Westbank Expressway in Marrero on the evening hours of January 30th. She was transported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for questioning concerning her involvement in the death of Donald Bates.
Skinner provided investigators with the identity of the two suspects they believe committed the attack on Donald Bates. She further claimed Terrol Cole, B/M, 27, of 8337 Tuscaloosa Avenue in Port Allen LA and Darnell Turner, B/M, 26, of 3000 Destrehan Avenue in Harvey initially planned on robbing Donald Bates. Skinner stated she met with both Cole and Turner immediately following the incident at Bates' home and was told they both admitted shooting and beating Bates.
Rhonda Skinner was subsequently booked with Second Degree Murder along with Obstruction of Justice.
Numerous attempts to locate both Cole and Turner were unsuccessful, however, arrest warrants have been issued for both Turner and Cole for First Degree Murder. Darnell Turner has prior arrests for First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Criminal Damage, Second Degree Murder, Battery on a Police Officer, Interfering with the Police, Criminal Trespassing, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, Soliciting Minors to Distribute Dangerous Substance, and Distribution of Ecstasy and Marijuana.
Terrol Cole has prior arrests for Possession and Distribution of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest by Flight, and the Illegal Use of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Rhonda Skinner has prior arrests for Harassing or Threatening Telephone Calls and numerous attachment.
