New Orleans—Saints defensive ends Charles Grant and Will Smith will not be suspended for the foreseeable future.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in "considerations of fairness and uniform application of our policies", Smith and Grant's four game suspensions will not be enforced.
The pair were suspended after failing a test for banned weight loss supplement, StarCaps.
The NFL is reluctant to suspend the two Saints while Kevin and Pat Williams of Minnesota are allowed to pursue legal action against the league in Minnesota state court.
Today's action by the NFL means Smith and Grant could possibly be allowed to play the entire 2009 season.
