ROBERT—Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that on June 10, 2009, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Agents arrested three female subjects on multiple drug charges including ten counts of manufacturing methamphetamines.
At approximately 7:30pm, agents initiated a traffic stop on Hwy. 445 and I-12 which resulted in the arrest of Cathy Bennett (dob 4.22.65) of 27400 Augusta Lane in Holden and Stephanie Rhodus (dob 11.9.66) of 25455 Rhodus Rd. in Holden. At this time, both female subjects were taken into custody on narcotics related charges. During the traffic stop, Bennett stated that they had just left a Robert residence where they participated in the manufacturing of methamphetamines. Agents then arrived at 23261 Hwy. 190 in Robert and knocked at the door. Katherine C. Arledge, met with agents and signed a consent to search request giving agents permission to search the residence. Upon entry, agents learned that Arledge's two small grandchildren children were also living in the residence, an 18 month w/f and a four yoa w/m. As agents continued the search, they discovered in the master bedroom a blue container which contained precursor materials used in the manufacturing of meth along with two disposed one pot method meth labs, meth oil and methamphetamines. Agents also located in the master bedroom closet a garbage bag containing used components of a meth lab along with another disposed one pot method meth lab.
Agents immediately contacted Acadian Ambulance Services to assess the children. OCS and TPSO Juvenile Detective Chris Perry, quickly arrived on scene to assist with the investigator. After the children were transported to NOMC for precautionary measures, they were released to the custody of OCS.
Katherine Arledge was arrested and charged with TEN counts of manufacturing schedule II narcotics, TEN counts of operation of clandestine lab, child endangerment, Four FTA's and one FTA for issuing worthless checks.
Stephanie Rhodus was arrested and charged with TEN counts of manufacturing schedule II narcotics, TEN counts of operation of clandestine lab, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II narcotics and child endangerment.
Cathy Bennett was arrested and formally charged with TEN counts of manufacturing schedule II narcotics, TEN counts of operation of clandestine lab, possession of schedule II narcotics, improper lane use and child endangerment.
