Man Shot to Death in Gunfight With Police
A police officer fatally wounded an armed 30-year-old man who fired at officers during a foot chase Saturday night near the Foothill Freeway, police said.
The man, Maurice Clark, from Los Angeles got officers’ attention on West Howard Street when it appeared he was concealing something in his waistband. After refusing their orders to show his hands, the pursuit began, authorities said.
Police said Clark fired at least one shot at officers. One officer fired back, hitting Clark in the torso. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
