BRONX, N.Y. (WPIX)—The Fourth Presbyterian Church will hold a vigil at 6pm Sunday, after arsonists set fire to the Glory of Christ Church in the Bronx Wednesday.
"hail to Satan," "we hate Jews and Christians," "get off our Block," and "666" were some of the messages the authorities found spray-painted on the walls.
The vandals smashed computers and televisions in the second floor offices before torching them, along with a soup kitchen that opened in 2006 with a generous donation from late Yankees broadcaster Bobby Murcer.
More than 100 firefighters converged on the scene just after 4 a.m. and extinguished the blaze shortly before parishioners showed up for the 5:30 a.m. prayer service.
The church was storing clothing for a holiday drive, as well as medicine to be sent to Africa.
