NEW YORK (WPIX)—New Yorkers of all ages will get a chance to make Billy Joel proud this summer. Artwork by artist Luke Jerram, in the form of real pianos, will be set up throughout the city.
The "Play Me, I'm Yours" international tour plays the "Big Apple" starting June 21st and runs until July 5th.
Sixty upright pianos will be placed throughout the five boroughs by Sing for Hope for people to play.
Interested New Yorkers will find the pianos available in public parks, streets and plazas.
Films, photos and stories about the pianos can be posted by any member of the public at the website www.streetpianos.com.
Once the last tour has been completed, the pianos will be donated to local schools and community groups.
