Actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested Thursday after police said she hit a woman during an argument at a New York City nightclub.
Actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested Thursday morning after police said she punched a woman in the face at a nightclub in New York.
Lohan, 26, was taken into custody on suspicion of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, at Club Avenue in Manhattan’s fashionable meatpacking district.
Police said the incident happened inside the club and the troubled actress was sitting inside a black SUV when officers arrived and arrested her about 4 a.m.
Lohan was not injured and the alleged victim, whose injuries were not disclosed, refused medical treatment at the scene, officials said.
A call to Lohan’s publicist was not immediately returned.
The incident is just the latest in a string of run-ins with the law for the actress.
Lohan had hoped to rekindle her derailed acting career with a turn as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s “Liz & Dick,” a made-for-TV movie chronicling Taylor’s tumultuous relationship with Richard Burton that premiered Sunday night.
The movie -- and particularly Lohan’s performance -- was widely mocked in the press. Los Angeles Times TV reviewer Mary McNamara called it a "wildly graceless biopic" filled with more "petulance than passion."
