Awesome images from space
The huge, high-tech Dark Energy Camera is photographing galaxies 8 billion light-years away. NASA's spacecraft Dawn is heading toward a dwarf planet. And the legendary twin Voyager crafts are pushing the boundaries of the solar system. Space, it seems, is a lively place. Here are photos from the far reaches of space, plus Mickey Mouse on Mercury.

Superbubble( X-ray: NASA/CXC/U.Mich./S.Oey, IR: NASA/JPL, Optical: ESO/WFI/2.2-m )
A composite image from NASA shows a superbubble in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small satellite galaxy of the Milky Way located about 160,000 light years from Earth. As new stars form here, they produce intense radiation, spit out matter, speed through their evolution and explode as supernovas. Winds and supernova shock waves carve out hollows called superbubbles amid the surrounding gas, according to the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
