About four hours after a woman fell off a roof and became stuck in a small space between two buildings, firefighters in Portland, Ore., pulled her to safety through a hole they had cut.

“Oh my God!” she shouted once she was freed about 7:30 a.m.

The woman, whose name was not released, was walking on top of one of the buildings early Wednesday morning when she fell into a small space between two buildings, said Ron Rouse, a spokesman for Portland Fire & Rescue.

“She fell down two stories. But remarkably enough she was OK,” he told the Los Angeles Times.

About 22 firefighters responded to the scene. Rouse said the first priority was to keep the woman warm because the temperature hovered around freezing. Firefighters provided her with a portable heater and blankets, he said. 

Rouse said soap and water were applied to the woman before firefighters pulled her through the hole.

After the woman was freed, she “started hugging firefighters,” Rouse said.
 
She was taken to a hospital as a precaution, he said.
