An Israeli settler, left, clashes with a left-wing peace activist who, along with other activists, was helping Palestinian farmers harvest olive trees in an orchard bordering the settlement of Kiryat Arba near the West Bank city of Hebron. The Israeli military commander in the occupied West Bank said Thursday that settler violence against Palestinians and Israeli soldiers is on the rise in what he called a "grave phenomenon."
