Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee
The United Kingdom celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The celebration, which takes place Saturday through Tuesday, marks the 60th anniversary of her ascension to the throne. It includes a festival of boats on the Thames, the lighting of more than 2,000 beacons around the country during a four-day public holiday and the Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup race on Derby Day on Saturday in Epsom, England.
