Margaret went to be with her Lord on March 27, 2013.
Margaret V. Johnson was born Oct. 22, 1921, to Hilmer and Augusta (Carlson) Johnson on the family farm near Houghton. The family later moved to Claremont. Margaret graduated from Claremont High School in 1939.
Margaret and Marvin A. Sippel were united in marriage on Dec. 16, 1942, in Webster. They made their home on a farm northeast of Groton. She helped with the family and feeding the livestock. Together they had two children: Mary Ann and Marty. Margaret taught Sunday school at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton for many years. She loved to bowl on Claremont and Aberdeen leagues and worked at Control Data in Aberdeen. Following her retirement in May 1987, she volunteered at Golden Living Center, Groton, for over 15 years. Margaret enjoyed going to Watertown and Flandreau casinos with friends and family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Mary Ann of Aberdeen and Marty (Ellie) of Groton; one sister, Lorraine Sippel and one sister-in-law, Marie Gengerke, both of Groton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marvin, in 2007; one brother, Howard Johnson; and two sisters: Guenhild Hanson and Mildred Kessler.
Honorary casketbearers will be her nieces, nephews and all of her friends.
Casketbearers will be Chuck Kessler, Lyle Kessler, Bruce Sippel and Don Hanson.
