He married Julie Schaefer at St. Liborius Catholic Church in Polo, S.D., on Oct. 12, 1948. He farmed in the LaFoon Township until his retirement to Faulkton in 1991. He also served on the board of Miranda Elevators, Faulk County School and Faulkton Bank.
Bob and Julie traveled throughout the United States in their motor home. In addition to traveling, Bob's hobbies included flying, fishing, golf, shuffle board, attending grandchildren's activities and spending time with family and friends. He loved the daily coffee group. In 1996, they bought a home in Apache Junction, Ariz., where they enjoyed spending their winters.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Julie of Faulkton; Larry (Cheryl) Bowar, Faulkton; Pam (Terry) Brueggeman, Marshalltown, Iowa; Jeanette (Rick) Shamis, Sugar Grove, Ill.; Nancy (Dave) Waldowski, Alta Loma, Calif.; and Gary (Nickie) Bowar, Faulkton; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
