Jeffrey H. Douglas, a former Caroline County Department of Public Works supervisor, died of heart failure Wednesday at Seasons Hospice in Northwest Hospital.
The Baltimore resident was 59.
Born and raised in Lutherville, Mr. Douglas was a 1972 graduate of Dulaney High School, where he was an outstanding lacrosse player and kicker for the varsity football team.
He attended the Naval Academy and Salisbury University. He moved to the Eastern Shore in 1978 and had lived in Still Pond, Denton and Preston.
Mr. Douglas worked for more than two decades as a supervisor for the Caroline County Department of Public Works, until leaving in 1997 on a medical disability.
He enjoyed crabbing, fishing and hunting, as well as training his own hunting dogs. He was an avid vegetable gardener.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Surviving are a son, J. Joe Douglas of Roland Park; a daughter, Katie V. Douglas of Hagerstown; his mother, Lois H. Douglas of Baltimore; a brother, Robert C. Douglas of Pasadena; and two nieces. His marriage to the former Eileen Maloney ended in divorce.
