Over a 50-year career, W.C. Heinz wrote novels - he was co-author of "MASH" - and short stories as well as newspaper columns and magazine features. Even his fiction grew out of his skills as a reporter. He went behind the scenes of a story, where he could observe his subjects closely and capture their natural speech.
