  • I first heard a Bo Diddley record in 1958. I was 15 yrs old at the time. For a white kid living in LA hearing him sing "I'm a man" was so out-of-this-world. An earth shattering experience that I can remember clearly to this day. I played his record over and over again. I'd never heard anything like it. Man, he was preachin to me. Listening to him sing on that record I learned more about myself, the black race, the white race, God and the devil than I had in all my 15 years of life. Much Love to you Bo and keep rockin!

  • At dinner with friends the other night and having a senior moment I said "wow somebody important passed away today. one of the other diners said "oh it was Yves Saint Laurent. I said "no no it was somebody much more important than that". then It came to me. "Bo Diddley I said" which drew some puzzled looks.

  • I'll never forget, the 1st time I saw Bo on TV... back when I was a kid. He knocked me on my ass! I thought "who the hell is THIS guy"??? I'd just started to play the guitar, and as soon as he'd finished playing... the first thing I did was grab my funky lil' guitar & amp, crank it up - and try to play like Bo! His sound, his image, his playing were like no other... although lots & lots of us were influenced by him, and wanted to be like him! Bo, you sure had it right when you wrote "I'm a Man"! Bo - you are, were, and always WILL be... the MAN!!! R.I.P. Bo, and rock on!

  • Bo, was a true legend in our time. Quick with a laugh, honest and warm. I met him in 1985, years later I saw him in concert and back stage, he looked at me and knew where and when we had met years before. When he wrote I'm a Man, he meant it! Miss You Bo!

  • When one of the seminal influences in rock music such as Bo Diddley leaves this world we know that there is a Rock and Roll heaven with such alumni as Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan just waiting to roll out the red carpet for a true master. Our loss is their reward. Rest in Peace Bo.

  • I was listening to Bo Diddley Is a Gunslinger at work today and was just again reminded of how great he was. I had no idea that he had died until I was checking my email after work. Terrible loss to the world.
