A resident of the San Bernardino County community of Yucca Valley, Lynch appeared in dozens of horror and science-fiction films in a career spanning four decades. He played a school principal in director Rob Zombie's 2007 "Halloween" remake.
His most recent role was in Zombie's "The Lords of Salem," which has not yet been released.
Other movies featuring Lynch included "Scarecrow," "The Seven-Ups," "The Ninth Configuration," "Invasion U.S.A." and "Little Nikita." He appeared in TV series including "Battlestar Galactica," "The A-Team," "Six Feet Under" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
According to public records, Lynch was born Feb. 12, 1940, in Brooklyn. He had said he suffered scarring in 1967 after he set himself on fire while under the influence of LSD.
