E.A. Cederberg, 88; Republican Served 13 Terms in U.S. House
E.A. “Al” Cederberg, 88, a Michigan Republican who served 13 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and became the ranking minority member of the House Appropriations Committee, died Monday of heart and kidney ailments at a medical center near his home in Orlando, Fla.
A native of Bay City, Mich., Cederberg served in the Army during World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion. He served as mayor of Bay City in the late 1940s and early 1950s before being elected to the House of Representatives in 1952.
During his tenure, Cederberg was a firm supporter of the auto industry and was an ally of former President Nixon. After losing his reelection campaign in 1978, he did private consulting for companies, including United Technologies, RCA and Grumman Aircraft.
Cederberg moved to Florida in the late 1990s.
