James L. May, 79, of St. Ignace, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.
Jim was born Jan. 22, 1933, to Jyle and Bernice (Beard) May in Germantown, Ind.
Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1960.
He enjoyed the outdoors - skiing, boating, golfing and fishing.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Jean Blose of Richmond, Ind., Patti May of Centerville, Ind., Carolyn Sbarge of Richmond, Ind., and Bob May of LaGrange, Ky.; his three children, Sherri Thomas of Palatine, Ill., Gracia Day of Gladstone, Mich., and David May of Gaylord, Mich.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Gracia Nitzsche, and his parents.
A memorial service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing, Ind. A lunch followed at Carvers in Richmond.
