Thomas O. Merritt, 63, from Mancelona, formerly of Boyne City, died on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Arizona Regional Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz.
Thomas was born May 11, 1949, in Charlevoix. He lived in Minnesota for several years before moving back to Michigan.
Tom was a union millwright and worked in various places throughout the United States. Tom was a member of the Forgotten Eagles Chapter 6 and Abate Reg. 3 of Michigan, as well as the Mancelona Moose Lodge and the FOE 1583 Boyne City.
Survivors include five sisters, Marlene (Lyman) Hammond of East Jordan, Mary (Harold) Magee of Boyne City, Karlene Kreger of Prescott, Arlene (Marvin) Beal of East Jordan and Kathlene (David) Carter of Mancelona; one half sister, Alice (Vernell) Meese of Lansing; a half brother, David Peoples of Lottsburg, Va.; two aunts, Millie Harris and Louise Moore, both of East Jordan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ellen Merritt, and three half-brothers, Art Merritt, Bob and Fred Lively
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan 26, at the Stackus Funeral Home, 417 Elm St.. Boyne City. Pastor Hector Vazquez will be officiating.
