William H. Drenth, 92, formerly of East Jordan, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at his home in Mancelona.
Born on April 12, 1920, in Muskegon, the son of Herman E. "Shorty" and Nellie (Jensen) Drenth.
Bill married Reva Wilson on Aug. 30, 1941, in Atwood. She died on May 9, 1998.
On Nov. 6, 1999, he married Betty Lanning in Mancelona. Betty died on Aug. 25, 2009.
Bill served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the East Jordan United Methodist Church, charter member and second commander of the Ellsworth American Legion, member of the 40 & 8 group of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, East Jordan Rotary Club, East Jordan Snowmobile Club and "Save the Jordan" group.
He worked for 25 years in real estate. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and woodworking.
Survived by one son, Larry (Dorothy) Drenth of East Jordan; five daughters, Lynda (Neil) Olstrom of East Jordan, Gail (Ken) Batterbee of Grand Blanc, Billie Drenth of East Jordan, Jackie (John) Nachazel of Ellsworth and Vicki (Clifford) Lanning of Mancelona; four stepchildren, Norman (Edna) Lanning, Clifford (Vicki) Lanning, Dennis (Susan) Lanning, Susan (Mark) Kler, all of Mancelona; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Drenth of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Gordon Drenth of Greenville; two sisters, Evelyn (Harvey) Bergsma of Jennison and Emily Jean Hubers of Wayland; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home, with a memory sharing service at 6 p.m.
The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Penzien Funeral Homes Inc. in East Jordan. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
