  • A comedian once suggested knocking out all the Israelis and moving them to Baja California while they were unconcious. There wouldn't be any more fighting and the economy of Mexico would get a great bump.

  • Great column. It really points out that the fighting accomplishes nothing more than killing people and that neither side has mature, reasoning people as leaders. Israel and the Palestinians need to find a way to live together. I'm tired of seeing the dead bodies of children, on both sides, because these two parties can't get their act together.

  • Israel's ongoing economic blockade against Gaza is a humanitarian nightmare and until Israel puts a stop to this it has no right to complain about rockets or violence.

  • I thought the article was amazing and funny. If I would comment on one thing it would be the part "Keep that cycle of violence going!" I think it should have been under the Israeli section, but this is only my opinion, sorry. The real reason for this war wasn't mentioned but I still loved it!

  • The sides game is the one that has to stop. There are no sides when innocent civilians are getting killed. What should we do? As an international community, we have spent the last 50 plus years ignoring the plight of the Palestinian people. Enough is enough. No more lives need to be lost. Also, from do we allow terrorist groups to become governments? We did it with Fatah and then we allowed it with Hamas. It is time to start from scratch and it is time to hear the plea of Palestinian men, women and children. The defense of Israel or of Hamas is simply wrong.

  • Very fair layout of the conflict. Funny, I am suprised the LATimes let you write this given there obvious pro-Israeli bent. Usually, they'd like us to think poor Israel they do nothing wrong and are attacked. We get that Hamas is a bad organization from the times but we usually never get what the Israelis are _ and agressive expansionist nation that yearly seizes more and more Palestinian land.

  • Israel has been in the works since the 19th century (as in 1800s), not to mention that Jews have been living in the Holy Land for over 3000 years. You're exposing yourself as a fool by claiming Israel was granted to the Jews because of WWII. That's called living a lie, and the Palestinians have been doing that for a long, long time.

  • The writer sounds ignorant and doesn't know much about the 80 year-old conflict which is basically a classical colonial occupation robbing the indigenous people from their land and resources and confine them in miserable refugee camps. The oppressors then complain and accuse the oppressed of being terrorists when they fight back with very limited resources one of the mightiest armies in the world courtesy of Amercian taxpayer money.

  • RS: Yeah and "maybe" the Queen of England will appear on Flavor of Love next season. "Perhaps" you can't read very well. When you say "given the evidence presented there is no reason to accuse Israel of being trigger happy" it makes you look illiterate. Did you read the paragraph at all? It gives specific numbers from three major studies. Duh.

  • It's refreshing to see even a little criticism of Israel in the only country that didn't vote for a cease fire in Gaza. You write about Palestinians being "displaced". I guarantee you wouldn't be so cavalier about it if it was your home and land that was stolen. Also, since 1948, much more land has been stolen at the whim of Israel. Illegal settlements and roads all over what was supposed to be Palestine.
