Too often there is a government/industry revolving door. Monsanto and FDA come to mind. Other times, a clear bias in the government like EPA/Bush-Cheney-big oil. In these cases, I believe there is a conflict of interest and the consumer is not assured adequate regulation and safety. I think we need more scientists independent of corporate money--includiig that funding their unversities, etc--doing the research and recommendations. Otherwise, government is working for big business, not the people.
