This is so fundamentally wrong on so many counts, and is CLEARLY a PARTISAN attack on Obama. It would be far better Goldberg would "tell it like it really is", but that's not likely in the middle of a highly-charged attempt by the Republicans to STEAL another election. Fool us three times, shame on all of us! McCain is WRONG for America, period.

I am an Obama supporter, but I think the column makes some interesting points. That TV ad was a joke, and not a funny one. Get to the big issues. Obama has plenty of things he can say about how his presidency would be better than a McCain presidency, for women, for the environment, for foreign relations, etc. I just hope the Obama campaign gets down to business before it is too late.

Republican policies have failed. Their candidate wants to maintain the same course, but that course leads to a dead end. If you want a leader who sings songs about bombing Iran, makes horrible jokes about young girls and admittedly knows nothing about economics - then McCain is your man. If you think we can do things better than we have with Bush - then vote for Obama.

What else can they say? They cannot talk about their own achievements over the last eight years because they have been egregiously inept. The GOP gave us one of the most incompetent presidents we have ever had in George W. Bush - perhaps neck and neck with James Buchanan. They have taken our national surplus and turned it into a record debt. They have pursued an unjust war through nefarious means. They have soiled the good will the world was ready to give us after the tragedy of 9/11. They are led by a man against whom a reasonable case for impeachment can be made. They have, in a word, FAILED.

"Dream what you want, but your candidate for Pres. has as much experience as our candidate for VP." - Gary 1:18 PM PDT, September 16, 2008 Your dear Veep lacks basic understanding of the world, not to mention that she is obviously not as intelligent as Biden. It is one thing to be a petty despot in Podunk, Nowhere USA, quite another to be the leader of the free world. Get a grip.

Republicans have had eight years in the highest office and the nations economic and political outlook is extremely poor. The GOP could not manage their way out of a paper bag and now they are putting forth a guy who is just like the last, superficially qualified but profoundly incompetent.

McCain puts "Country First" and Obama is not qualified to lead. Their "Country First" rhetoric will be all about the McCain story. His story is compelling - war hero, adulterer, cheater and liar. Senator, I may not have those in exactly the right order, but that is a quick summary.
Country first @ 9:45 AM PDT, Sep 17, 2008

1995: McCain Voted Against Closing Tax Loopholes to Increase Veterans Funding by $74 Million. McCain voted against eliminating tax breaks and closing tax loopholes to provide revenue to restore some of the proposed cuts in Veterans Affairs spending. (S.C.R. 13, Vote 226, 5/25/95)
