Tim Rutten
1.
I EMBRACE diversity! I LOVE cock fights in my neighborhood, grafitti all over the city, stolen shopping carts everywhere, pit bulls fighting and running loose on my daily walks, different languages making communication challenging, unlicensed food vendors on the streets! I love the character it brings and rejoice in soaking up the local color. LA ROCKS!
2. "Parents and neighborhoods have to work together with police to put a stop to this senseless violence" Yeah, well, sounds good, but it hasn't worked in decades nor will it. Nobody's gonna risk their or their family's neck by visibly working with the cops. You would be stupid to do that. Gangster's have the upper hand, they know it, the parents and neighborhoods know it too. When the cops get the upper hand, then people will be less fearful to try to make a difference on the street level. Now if the media would stop burning both ends of the candle on this, that would be a big help too.
3. Baca's got the right take on the situation, Bratton doesn't, while Bratton fiddles, Rome burns.
4. Both of them have mountains of credibility compared to the shill that is Rutten.
5. The PC police don't want anyone asking questions about the obvious animosity between black and brown in this city. It simply doesn't fit with their agenda. So if high school and prison race riots occur and if their is a shooting every other weekend or so don't ask why. Hey, look over there, isn't that a white Nazi war criminal or an hooded Klansman?
6. Political correctness is not letting Chief Bratton say what he means..Not to mention he does not want to upset the Mayor of city council...Everybody knows that there is a gang war between blacks and hispanics...Right now I think its a political issue with Obama..Mayor and Clearly Democratic city council know Obama needs the Latino vote...What better way than to sugarcoat this issue...Everyone knows blacks and hispanics hate each other...Only a complete MORON would disagree...Sorry but thats the truth whether we like it or not...
7. Bratton is one of the best things that've happened to the lapd. He shows a certain sensitivity, and humility, without being a 'weak' leader. It seems a quite rare combination. He's changed the image of the lapd to the better for sure.
8. There are some residents, especially Minutemen types, who want to see 'tensions' between blacks and Latinos. It gives them leverage against the latter. At some point, those who keep saying blacks and Latinos 'shun each other', must be walking with blinders covering their eyes, getting all their ideas from sensational news coverage, and probably project their own hate in some cases. I'd never seen these 'tensions' until it was mentioned in the evening news. Perspective is utterly important. If everyone starts buying that blacks and Latinos "hate each other", then that's what will ultimately happen. Which in turn will fuel more violence.
9. 2) The tired excuse that Espinoza was released although he was in LAPD's databank of gangbangers, because he was arrested in Culver City, is a cop-out. SO SHARE DATA, DUH! As in Runner Bill, create a statewide databank and let law enforcement use it, upon arresting AND processing in jail. NO bail for illegal felons in gangs, no more Espinoza/Shaw murders. -- Even if parts of Runner bill dubious (putting teens in adult prison), all but those w/ a Latino agenda want illegal gangmembers deported and resident gangmember felons in jail. Cardenas/Alarcon/ Padilla to the contrary, gangs = 70% of violent crimes.
10. Latinos and blacks, as well as whites and Asians, can and do get along in small, structured setting where they have a common goal, like charter schools, work, or in a stable community. But when there's been competition for all these resources, thanks to unchecked illegal immigration, and the immigrants are of a totally different, unassimilated culture -- e.g., turning South L A backyards into rooster/chicken/goat barnyards, mariachi music -- turf battles go down racial lines which harden into gangs. Hispanics are now 80% of S L A, the former "black" area: neither will admit illegal immigration is THE cause.
