1. I work in a nursing home. Most every resident there gets an absentee ballot. They would never understand a word you just wrote and if it were explained to them in a way they would understand...they still wouldn't agree with you. Besides that, you have an entire evangelical population to attempt to sway. And as part of that group, I can tell you it would be easier convincing the old people. I still think you're hilarious though...

4. For those of you who think that gay marriage will lead to man on dog sex, or whatever perversion you're embracing at the moment. If you are unable to differentiate between two people who love each other and are trying to build a life together in our allegedly free country, and someone who has sex with animals or molests children, then YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS JUDGING ANYONE'S MORALITY. But then, that is what Jesus said isn't it? you have no business here. The 'slippery slope' argument is a straw man argument

5. 3) for those who think gay people produce gay children, and if gay marriage is allowed, every one will become gay. First, see the remarks above about hate and fear and ignorance. Then use the brains that God gave you, My parents were heterosexual, as were the parents of every gay person I have ever known but 1. Gay people are a small minority, not the majority. This 'everyone becomes gay' argument is just silly. YOU wouldn't, so there will be at least one or two hets around to continue the race. Exclusive Heterosexuality is not normal, and never has been. It's just COMMON, and not as common as you think.

6. I have a bunch. Steve M: you may want to believe that marriage is a religious tradition, and only that. Well, in reality, there is a civil contract called marriage in state law. If you have no problem with civil unions, which are marriage except for the name and 1000 or so rights and responsibilities that go with recognition by the feds. So if the name is all that's stopping you, maybe it really isn't about the use of the word marriage at all.

7. A wonderful way of making your point with humor. I As an 83 year old straight grandmother I would like to tell you that we are not all Neanderthals. I have been championing the right of my gay friends for years. Sorry to say I live in a state (Arizona) where Neanderthals abound and most of them are not elders. I call them the American Talliban using religion to justify their misguided hatred.

8. This is so witty and clever that I will forgive you for stereotyping we elders. The polls back you up, but I want you to know that we are not all Neanderthals. I am a straight 83 year old grandmother who has gay friends and have championed their causes for years. Unfortunately, I live in a State (Arizona) where the Neanderthals live and they are not all elderly. I am sorry they filed that hateful lawsuit in California that has delayed gay marriage. I hope it's only a temporary set back.
