Give the voters a clue

Discuss Jonah Goldberg's column.

Comments will close after two days.

1. Goldberg is just spewing nonsense like he always does. Truly, a bunch of smoke and mirrors to pander to the conservatives and to criticize the liberals. I guess I shouldn't be surprised about Goldberg's continued foolishness and lack of class. It would be an absolute miracle if he could offer anything insightful or worthy.

2. Too bad that Obama does not want to engage in a negative campaign. He could have shown the Hillary Bosnia lie footage over and ever again as she did to him on his "bitter" comments. If he did, she would be crushed a long time ago. He did not even mention it unless when asked. I am sure the Republicans would if they need to.

3. The problem with your argument is that George Bush's election serves as a shining example of what can happen when a vote is based solely on "character" and "values" when in truth it is impossible to determine what a candidate's true character and values are, despite the Wright and Bosnia stories, until AFTER we have seen them in action. George Bush was elected not on the issues that should have been the priority (check his record as governor of TX!) but on character and values, or at least how the public interpreted them. A good campaign can market character and values (ask Karl Rove), they can't market action.

4. Um...I already wrote this column. You can read it at NYT.com. And, in all fairness, my column is much, much better. Jonah Goldberg, you are the poor man's David Brooks. But you are only half jewish. I am full.

5. Immediately pursue safe nuclear energy like the French and get away from oil finally. Immediately nationalize the oil and energy industries, because they are vital to national defense. The safety and future of the American People is far more important than Bush, McCain, and Clinton growing rich along with the super rich oil millionaires who do not care much for our Constitution or Our Beautiful Country. Wall Street Super-capitalism is selling America to foreigners and should be nationalize for the benefit of the American People. Oil is the new crack.

6. Hillary knows how to capitalize on the ignorance of under-educated, Caucasian Americans, who get their news from the 6 o'clock local stations, choose their candidates based on 30 second commercials full of half-truths, and have a propensity for racism and other prejudices. Her political machine is very clear on its strategy now - appeal to the prejudice and ignorance of older and poorer white Americans. Her supporters say things like, "Obama is too Islamic". This is the Democratic version of Karl Rove tactics.

8. Hey Christine - so what exactly is wrong with the roads? Are you complaining about federal, state or local roads? I'm responding to you because you are a perfect example of the uninformed public that supports empty policies that do this country more harm than good. What makes you think that you would even save 30$? You think the oil companies and gas stations are going to pass all those savings on to you? Ask Florida and some of the other states that have tried this already. Not to mention that demand would increase and the price would rise anyways. Give me a break - do your research and don't sell yourself out for a cheap gimmick.

9. Christine, You just don't get it. After they just explained that YOU WON'T GET thre $30.00 because the oil companies will just raise the price to fill the gap, you still believe in Santa Claus. All economists say it is a bad idea and won't work. Clinton knows it won't work either, she is just trying to buy votes from the fools that believe her lies. As if congress will pass a windfall tax on oil companies, and Bush will sign it, all in time for summer. Come on Hillary, how dumb do you think we are?

10. You think the issues over Obama are a side track or a waste of time. Obviously you are another one of those people that doesn't care for this country. Obama is not decent to be the Democratic Nominee much less President. I want a person as President that has character of loving America and not hanging around the Anti-American people that Obama hangs around. It's funny that Obama stayed in the Church for 20 years and never picked up on Reverned Wright's personal beliefs. It only took Opra two years and that is why she left the church. I want a President who can think a little quicker.
