1. Had it not been for Bellflower H. S. and El Camino Jr. College - @ $ 7.00/qtr. including activities ticket, (pre-Reagam education funding fiasco) I would have not been admitted to the University of Missouri to work on a Ph.D. Return to the glory days of low-cost quality education at the H.S. level, Long Beach State, UCLA et. al. etc. etc. Your kids deserve it!

2. The notion of spending money on Illegal immigrant kids pisses a lot of (silent majority) people off.

3. Hey, We need to spend enough money to be "safe" even when it is selffullfilling. All the other aspects are distant secondary.

4. "the education funds are NOT being cut. In fact, there are more dollars being spent this year then last. Big Unions refer to the 'cut' which is really a cut in the planned increase." Exactly! So stop using all the funds for administrative purposes.

5. We need to start by downsizing government and end wasteful spending. We spend WAY too much on prisons. Stop jailing "non-violent" offenders. Legalize gambling, prostitution and marijuana possession. Not only will that keep people out of jail, it will bring in tax revenue. Privatize the DMV. Eliminate the Alcohol Beverage Control Department. Have the federal government pay for illegal immigrant and their US born children services since they refuse to do anything. Then, if need be, a temporary sales tax increase.

6. Lots of money is being wasted on our school system. Schools need to return to the days of the whip on the butt and the soap in the mouth, discipline. Lazy students need to flunk, repeat grades, until they measure up; do away with social promotion. Emotional triggers need to be pulled, positive ones, beyond contempt for others, with competition. Students should be rewarded for completing high school courses online, to induce savings to the state. Standardized lesson presentations should be shown statewide on huge video screens, and teachers should tutor individual students.

7. Blame the immigrants for the lack of effective public education. It is a high school requirement to take two years of foreign language. Maybe Juan can teach John how to speak Spanish in first grade so by the time he gets to high he not lost(vice versa). There is NO accountability there is no ONE movement from parents demanding answers.Teachers union doesnt allow bad teachers to be fired, just moved and the same results occur. There is nothing wrong with learning from other cultures it is only going to make your children smarter and prepared for U.S. job market or lack there of. Tuition for college up 1200 in one year plus gas and food help!

8. Here's your evidence. Illegal aliens in schools - way up! Education test scores and school quality - way down. 9. It's down right ignorant to blame illegals for our educational woes. Please produce evidence to substantiate such outrageous claims. Funny that when I've worked with immigrants in LA district, their desire to learn, speak english and go to a good college was quite high. Submitted by: bp 9:31 AM PDT, June 17, 2008

9. I made it through public schools in another state, which is far worse than CA and I became well educated. Mostly because my parents pushed me to do so. We had gangs and violence, but my brother and I became doctors. CA always had the perception as the top public school system, but that has slowly changed. Many parents can't speak English and illegals do not pay taxes for education. We need to raise standards for education as well.

10. To educate 1 illegal alien = $9,000. Which illegal alien father makes enough to pay $9,000 in taxes each year? 2 children = $18,000.
