You are right Ms. Brooks in that Mr. Obama is human. You might also add he's the absolute consumate politician and is the product of the Chicago Democratic Machine. As a running mate he's chosen a rather old product of beltway politics that even his own party has rejected twice. This is not a formula for change. What we have here is the same old product dolled up with a new (to us) mouth piece. What have either of these men done besides be politicians? If you want change Ms. Brooks, look elsewhere.

Ms. Park.
I have liked your writing for a long time. I completely agree with you. Please keep remimding all of those who want change that they need to be involved to help bring the change they so desprately want.

Of course Obama is not the messiah. He promises change, but what we must question is if he means it. Does Obama plan on restoring change or is he all talk no action. If he plans on restoring to the great nation it once was then he needs to get a move on a start telling us more how and less what.

I was born priveleged -My grandparents were at the pinnicle of industry and the arts . I am a Ph.d and I have children-only 2 + adopted because I was educated -I understood that if you pretend to be an advocate of life, you must adopt-and I do believe that Oback Obama is the only person who might be able to save the horrible debt that this country indured during the Bush administrations. I believe that each of us must search not only our minds, but our true, loving, American hearts and souls.

I agree completely with this author. We need to put all our efforts into getting Obama into office, and stop asking why he is not perfect. People put him on a pedestal and when one of his speeches doesn't change the world and bring someone back from the dead, people freak out. If you want Obama in office so bad, make sure you help him get elected and stop asking why he's not God.

>>that boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage
People aren't supposed to try to survive on minimum wage. People are supposed to work at minimum wage jobs while they're going to school to get good educations, then they get good jobs, *then* they have children.

Obama is no messaih! He is an ordinary politician that promises the world and gives only what he is allowed to do while in office. We all need to remember that the President of the United States does not stand alone while he is in office; and he certainly does not have absolute rule. These elections will be a very determining factor for our nation and we all should be concern who gets elected. My vote is definitely with McCain he is not perfect but he is the best out of the two. The rest I can only say may God continue to be with us all.
YP @ 1:12 PM PDT, Aug 29, 2008
You get as per your choice. We saw our pick for TWO TERMS and HIS achievements. Why MUST we make a WRONG choice again?
McCain because of age, orientation and background will be slow to react thereby limiting his good options.
WHAT A TRAGEDY? Americans have to be more alert

Maybe if Barack was some other color maybe the "Messiah" imagery could be a little better for some to handle. Inspirational leaders always do what they were created to do... to hopefully inspire that which is the best in us to come out. Because these type of leaders know that the real power resides within the individual. Once the power is released, only then can real change occur, particularly with social movements. Obama, deserves the respect and admiration of what his vision has accomplished thus far. Change is possilble, if only we believe.

Who said Obama was the Messiah?.....
only Rosa Brooks...is she confused?...or is she a angry Republican who now realizes that the chance of getting her man McCain
into office, with his old ideas(yawn), and his bitter jealous tone, a long shot...these so called journalist are just as bad as most politicians...she's another "shock and awe"
wannabe, what a disgrace to the LA Times...
