  • Hey Timothy-get your facts straight-try driving the 210, 10 or 60 west in the morning. And driving home-well it takes twice as long! I AM VOTING NO -I am not going to subsidize the City of Los Angeles grred-remember-charity begins at home-give the commuters in the east region of Los Angeles COUNTY our fair share!

  • My congratulations to Mr. Rutten on an excellent column. In summation, what Mr. Rutten describes is the reason why traffic in Los Angeles is such a mess. While local politicians fought amongst themselves for the last 40 years Billions of federal dollars went to other areas.

  • What is the point of public transportation if it leads from nowhere to nowhere. If they based the funding on value of jobs and lost time to traffic, Eastside would lose and deserve to lose. When the Eastside is as regionally important as the rest of the city it will deserve equal share until then stop blocking progress. It is a farce that an economically small region claim to deserve equal projects represented by petty politicians with personal vendettas can derail benefits to all residents. Everybody benefits on the Westside and LAX projects compared to the small benefits to the Eastside projects. Get real and support the tax.

  • This is the most one sided story-why don't you tell the truth-the LA Times is carrying Antonio's water. Antonovich and Molina are correct-as a resident living in the San Gabriel Valley-we deserve our fair share-The 70% approval on the tax was BEFORE we found out the shell game Antonio is playing-Can't the Times provide fair and balanced coverage? Try it-then your readership might increase.

  • We need more public transit: period. We'll gladly pay a $1 tax if need be!

  • What a poorly written column. We should expect more from Rutten. Sounds like he put together talking points and then tried to fill in gaps to make it a column.

  • Let's stay competitive, no more sales tax increases. It's time that ALL LA residents start paying their fair share. Instead of more wasteful sales tax increases, lets have a Habitation tax that everyone pays and dedicate it to Transportation "and" Housing.
